The Semi-Bluff
Semibluffing is a strategic poker concept I learned from David
Sklansky's book The Theory of Poker. This article is our
explanation of the concept of semibluffing. In short, a
semi-bluff is a bet you make when you're behind but have a
reasonable chance of drawing a winning hand, like when you have
four to a flush on the flop in Texas holdem. You have two ways
of winnig the pot when you semibluff here. If the other player
folds, you win the pot outright. If he calls, you still have a 1
out of 3 shot at drawing out on him.
Shorthanded
Poker Play
Hit to win or ABC poker is a fine strategy at a full table,
especially if you're playing limit holdem, but when it comes to
shorthanded poker player, aggression is the order of the day.
This article tells you why to be more aggressive when playing
shorthanded and explains how to be more aggressive when
necessary.

A closer look at how position affects appropriate strategy
decision in a poker game. Looks at how aggression levels,
looseness and tightness, and bluffing are all affected by your
position at the table.
Implied Odds
in Poker
Poker is all about exploiting other players' weaknesses, and
this article looks at the mathematical concept of implied odds
and how that, combined with your understanding your opponents'
tendencies, should affect how you make poker decisions.
Higher
Level Poker Thinking
At its most basic, poker is a game where you make decisions
about whether or not to bet or fold based on the strength of
your hand. The next level of thinking takes into account the
strength of your hand compared to what your opponents might
have. Higher level poker thinking is an important concept to
master when you start moving up to higher stakes poker games. |
