Contact Poker Coaches, Poker Teachers, and Poker Students

Please read this carefully before contacting us.

I prefer to receive communication from the following types of people:

  • Poker players
  • Poker coaches
  • Poker teachers
  • Poker students

I especially like to hear from these people if they want to do one of the following:

  • Submit content to this site. I offer a poker strategy section, and I'll consider articles for publication here. I'll pay a reasonable fee for these articles and provide a byline IF I accept them. See the section below about submitting content before contacting me.
  • Provide feedback about this site. If you like something I've done with the site, I'd love to hear about it. If you hate something, well, I want to hear that too.
  • Reach other poker students or poker coaches. If you're a poker player seeking a mentor, or if you're a poker mentor seeking proteges, then I'm happy to help. That's the whole point of this website, in fact.

I don't generally like to hear from people if they want to do the following:

  • Conduct three way link trades. Most of the time webmasters who want to do three way link exchanges don't have the kind of content I want to link to from this site. If your site offers really cool content, I'll probably link to it without any scheming on your part.
  • Recruit affiliates. Please. I already know about your affiliate program, and if I wanted to know more about it, I would have contacted you already.
  • Sell me something. I don't want to BUY anything who contacts me regarding this website.

I give more specific guidance about contacting me below.

Be specific if you contact me.

If you contact me  via email, then you need to be specific about what you want. That might seem obvious, but I receive about twelve emails a day along the lines of:

"I liked your website, and I also have a website, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in cooperation between our sites. If you're interested, please let me know, and I'll send more details. By the way, this email isn't spam."

Messages like these are invariably followed by another email a few days later which says something like:

"I didn't receive a response to my last email, so I wanted to check back with you to make sure my message didn't get intercepted by an over-enthusiastic spam filter. Please let me know if you'd like to talk about some cooperation between our sites."

Notice that these emails show no indication that they even know which website I operate, since they didn't mention it. They also talk about wanting to "cooperate", but they don't say anything about what they want to "cooperate" on. And guess what? Spam = unsolicited email. I'm telling you now NOT to send me email that's vague. If you send vague email after I've specifically asked you not to, then you're spamming me. Please don't.

If you have a proposal, don't waste my time making me write to you to find out what it is. Include it in your email.

If you send me a vague email like the above, I'm going to mark the email as spam. And I'm not going to reply either.

Vague emails suck.

Submitting content.

I publish poker strategy content, but I don't publish nonsense, and I don't publish badly written content. Here are a few do's and don'ts for people who want to submit content here:

Don't:

  • Send me an email saying you'd like to write for me without including something that you want me to publish. I'm not interested in query-only type emails.
  • Submit "online poker room reviews". This isn't that kind of site.
  • Submit a poorly written article.
  • Submit really short pieces unless they're VERY well-written. I prefer material that's 1000 words or longer.

Do:

  • Send me a copy of what you're interested in publishing here. If I can't use it, I won't publish it, but I'll send you a note to that effect.
  • Submit content about poker strategy.
  • Write something unique and original.
  • Proofread it before you send it to me.

I pay competitively for content, and will make you an offer after looking at whatever you submit. Don't write to me asking for rates without sending me a piece of content to look at first. I just don't have time to waste negotiating rates for writers without knowing whether or not I want to buy their work first.

Don't try to recruit me for your online poker room affiliate program.

If you operate an online poker room, then you probably have an affiliate program. If I want to be an affiliate, I'll be in touch. I don't need anyone trying to recruit me as an affiliate. I already work with the programs I'm interested in.

If you're still interested in dealing with me as an affiliate after reading that, then be prepared to offer me an upfront, nonrefundable slotting fee for adding your poker room to this site. I'm only considering new affiliate relationships if they involve upfront money, and even then I might not be interested. But if you don't want to pay a slotting fee for placement, don't bother contacting me.

Don't contact me about buying or selling advertising.

I'll contact you if I want to buy advertising.

Right now, I'm not selling advertising on this site at all. If you're a poker coach or a poker student, then I'll give you free exposure on the site.

I reserve the right to change my mind about anything above anytime.
